AA conversion holdopen inserts, Bob
Dear JackH: How on Earth did you get the holdopen insert to stay in, I've been through several, even used the red Loc-Tite. After a while the lubricant would remove the loctite and the next thing I knew one of those tiny screws broke.... How do you like the weight balance of the conversions? On the ...

Clarification on which "Marvel"
Isabel is correct, and thank her for making the distinction. I am referring only to the 1911 .22 conversion made by Advantage Arms and to my experience with it and Bob Marvel custom.
I have had no experience with the Marvel Precision unit and make no comment about it.
Thanks, John C

Experience with Advantage Arms/Bob Marvel Custom Conversion
Summary: I'll never buy another one. I should note that I do not use this gun casually, more like 3 times a week for practice and competitions. The conversion has several different problems: 1. The hold open insert (the hard steel fitting that is inserted into a cut in the alloy slide) is held in pl...

origin of the term "Hospital Target"
I was at a bullseye match and helped to run the line, etc. There was reference to the term "Hospital Target." While everyone knew the meaning of the term, NO ONE knew its origin other than the fact that it was passed down from rifle shooting. I did an internet search and came up dry. Does ...

International or Olympic Pistol in Mid Altantic States???
I was on the USAS site a short while ago looking for Free Pistol events. They had listings only in the state of Virginia (2 clubs). When I checked the following states: NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, and WVA, no events were listed. Do any of you know of clubs in those states that sponsor Free Pistol or other I...

Target designation question.
What is the designation of the 25 meter slow fire target used in international sport pistol? I'm going to be in Switzerland this summer and one of the pistol events is something thay call "Meisterschaft." As far as I can tell it's pretty much port pistol, but they allow it to be shot with ...

What is a stray shot?
When shooting slow fire or a single shot event, and 8 is a bad shot in that i did something wrong, follow through, triger control, ignored a signal, etc. In rapid fire such as in Bullseye or Standard pistol, there is the rare but terrifying "pinwheel flinch." It's a kind of over compensati...

Free pistol target size is it the NRA B17?
Is the NRA B17 the correct 50 meter Free Pistol target? When I contacted the USAS they referred me to their rule book, which states that NRA targets are to be used until USAS targets become commercially available. There is a lot of data on the size of the rings, but they fail to note what the corres...

Rink Grips on TOZ 35
I received my Rink grips from Larry Carter today. The grips fit perfectly, as well they should. I particularly like the way Rink has set up the adjustment screws. The engineering is simple, clever, and effective giving you great control of final adjustments. The grips are also very nicely finished.

I need training advice.
I've been driving myself crazy trying to break into Master's level scores in Bullseye. I've decided that I'm not training properly.
Can anyone recommend a good book/DVD/video on pistol training?
Thank you, John C.

Grips for TOZ 35M Morini, Rink, or Vitarbo?
I've purchased a TOZ 35M. I need a medium left hand grip for it. Of the 3 different brands of grip, which one woud you recommend, and WHY? My intitial thouoght is that the Vitarbo may be good because it is made from an outline of my hand, which should help save having to do a lot of trimming. Rink a...

Getting into Free Pistol, need sugestion for a gun.
I'm a reasonably good conventional pistol shot (master-range scores). As part of my practice routine, I shoot Air Pistol every day. Soooooooo, I've got this urge for a Free Pistol and I'm curious as to what to buy. I've noticed a lot of the TOZ 35 pistols in recent photos of the Olympic competitons ...
