Re: Building 50 & 100 prone rifle

1" 21" Shilen ratchet, Uptagrafft tuner. Great prone rifle, but could have probably did .95". Long barrels are said to be better for Onehundred yards, but an accurate barrel is an accurate barrel no matter the length to me.

Re: Rear iris questions

Get a Gehman 510. Leave about 1.0-1.2 and forget about colors, polarization. Especially for a JR shooter. Keep it simple.

Check your spam folder, could be in there. It would go to whatever email you signed up originally with.

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

Have not heard, but also will not be attending. CMP/NRA split at Camp Perry is fine. I would bet they will get into more "games" types porter events as that is where the attendance numbers are from.

Re: NRA Smallbore Nationals report?

http://competitions.nra.org/championship-results/nra-national-smallbore-rifle-championships.aspx John: Day one was some switchy winds with changing mirage. Day two was a rain delay until noon (well done by NRA to make the call to delay) and gentle winds. AMU owns the top 4 spots going into scope. Nu...

Re: FWB 2700 opinions

I would go #1 kk500, #2 ahg 54.30, distant third fwb. Loading port is the biggest feature difference between the three, especially for prone only shooting building a position around reloading is key. The first two, and really the kk500 or kk300 are the best of the "reasonably" priced rifle...

Re: Buy a tuner or not?

Mark D and Kevin always have their equipment in top shape. From the look of the groups, there is potential for gain. A tuner could help, but as this was shot with iron sights in a sling how much error came from that? I would shoot some more, and as Kevin said focus on shot execution. If that is perf...

Re: Suggestions for "improving" Smallbore Nationals

A 1600 with team or dewar match shot the same day is too much. Again, NRA your competitors are CUSTOMERS! Treat them well. Or they won't come back. If a 1600 is to remain, we need 5 days. Day 3 for teams is best layout. After the 7+ 400-40x in 50y match, it is a waste of good ammo. If 4 days is NRA ...

Re: Recommendations for an Anschutz Gunsmith

I would contact Killough Shooting sports in Winters TX and get their recommendation.

I have used Mark Penrod, excellent. there are several who are very capable. Randy Gregory of Accuracy Unlimited has built many great smallbore guns too.

I think you could get a pair of Kelbly smallbore rings that would work. Google their webpage, look for rings/bases.

Bill Earnest Cheekpiece adj

I have a copy of Bill's catalog, but the picture is hard to see. Does his cheekpiece adjuster work like the Ahg aluminum stocks? Up/down, it can move cheekpiece in out with screws- but can the cheekpiece be tipped or rotated maybe is better term? Thanks- thinking of using in a prone stock instead of...

Have you ever slugged the barrel? CAREFULLY pull a bullet from a 22 case and push it down the bore with a Cleaning rod, I am betting there is a tight spot NOT near the end of the barrel. mgdietrich, could you elaborate a bit more on this process? Is it valid for pistols as well (probably free pisto...

I am sorry to say, but I would replace the barrel and test again. At the very least, bed the rifle and hope that is improves- which it probably would. Have you ever slugged the barrel? i dropped one of my Mastin's and it broke right behind the bedding block. I just picked up a used Sitman prone stock for my palma rifle. I always have Randy add lateral movement to my cheekpieces, so they are similar to the smallbore stocks. I wouldnt worry about weather, if they are sealed well and...
