I've had a hard time finding the exact technical regulations for the rifles. Just that they seem to need to be manually operated 22lr weighing more than ~6.5lbs. and that straight pulls are the most common. I've had the Savage Mark II fvt recommended to me and it seems very compelling at its price even with the traditional bolt. That said I've been wondering, is there anything that specifically prohibits use of lever action rifles?
I would also greatly appreciate any resources related to rifle regulations for the sport!showbox speed test

Re: Budget Biathlon Rifle Questions
If you could get a lever action .22 rifle with a detachable box magazine along with aperture sights it might work. I would think that a tubular magazine would create several problems.
Looking around I see Browning T-Bolt is apparently still out there. It is a straight-pull bolt action with a box mag and at around $700 new it os thousands less than Anschutz with a Fortner action.
