Re: International Airgun Club online..
I feel it's better to just support "our" own High Noon Postal Match ... more fun to see many results in one list ... rather then having our efforts diluted among different postal matches.

Re: Why not compete in many?
I agree - shooting in several postal matches a month is more interesting and fun than just dry practice. There are even alternative disciplines to just ISSF style.
Look under Competition on AirgunInfo for a listing.

Sure, if you have the time ... why not ... but then
... sometimes it's good to train various things ... and then try to put it all together for one "important" monthly event. When training I don't keep score ... then when I shoot a match ... it's nice to see it all come together.
Having one large monthly event like the High Noon Match ... allows one to compare one self with a larger international group. We've had members of the Italian, Australian, Norwegian and US National teams compete on the High Noon match ... probably more ... since it's been a while since I've participated.
If you want to shoot another postal match, the NASSA match is good ... because you get feedback from former US National Asst. Pistol Coach Wong.
Also you are provided with stickers that go across the black on the back of your match targets ... so it makes the match even more real.
You shoot with and send in a composite target ... a single backer target that records all 60 of your shots ... for further analysis by coach Wong.
He returns a graph of your match ... with observations and suggestions ...

Nor does it mean the converse.
I shoot every day for quality.
Nor does it mean you can't submit your scores across competitions to "compete" against people that you may not "compete" against now.

Re: Nor does it mean the converse.
I referred to the number of different postal matches, especially small ones that do not have big number of entries.
They use old formula that just doesn't work and based on the past they usually do not stay alive for a long time.
I think there is nothing wrong if someone is starting something new (new ideas) just to see if there is any interest, but to start one just to have one more of the lower quality in fact dilute competition.

Re: High Noon Postal Competition Statistics
Grzegorz,
I cannot name a reason for a decline in participation. I wonder if the sholder to sholder matches suffer a similar percentagee of participation?
While I might participate in another postal, High Noon is first, then time permitting perhaps another. I thought that by having entries with low scores, some people might be encouraged to submit their scores. I think that I may wait untill too late in the monthly match to post my low scores. I do not intentionally shoot low scores, that's just the way it is.
The air Rifle REQ 30 is such an ideal class for the home shooter, and perfect for the guys shooting and collecting the older 10 m rifles. I just traded for an RWS 75S-TO-1 and am trying to get it set uo to shoot.
I am not just encouraging old guys and duffers, but I want to see some of the very good 10 m air gun shooters participating. Kinda gives me a range of scores that people shoot.
Years ago, when I started participating in local sail boat races, I wanted to win real bad. As a beginner and for a few years, I did not win the race, but, I had some fine racing at the back and the middle of the fleet. Chilled out a little then as if by magic I got to to the front of the fleet. Competition there was no more fun than the competition a little further back.
I am done now.
Respectfully,
Bubba

Re: High Noon Postal Competition Statistics
I hope that yearly trend does not continue. :-(
I try to shoot and post as often as I can. It is nice to see my score in comparison to others.
It is interesting to see the pattern during the year. It is into July and Aug before it bottoms out.
I agree with Dan, the AR-REQ-30 is a great category for us weekend casual shooters who don't have the shooting outfit.
thanks much for the effort

Re: High Noon Postal Competition Statistics
Can you further explain what you mean by this sentence: "I have proposed to organize in the frame of the High Noon PC a match - international one, at the same time, etc." I don't understand what you are trying to say ...
I stopped shooting postal matches because we are fortunate in the Los Angeles area to have a number of monthly matches. We currently have THREE USA Shooting PTO's a month ! :-) Pretty good for gun-phobic Kalifornia!
And, I've learned to de-emphasis scores in my training. I just "worry" about good groupings ... and I like to surprise myself, one way or the other with my match scores. :-)
But for those who don't have access to shoulder to shoulder matches ... the postal matches offer a great extra incentive for measuring performance. Just realize that your home postal scores will virtually always be higher then "real" match scores ...

Man that hurt...
Last time I did that I dropped over 50 points; match vs practice. At least I did not completely cave in.

Re: I shot that course this month
: Just so you wouldn't be lonely.
I too will submitt a score. I am still working on "becoming one with my new to me, RWS 75. One soon forgets the time spent adjusting and fiddeling with the other rifles, to get them to feel good. Got nearly 60 shots on it now, and scores are coming up. Got to shoot the RWS instead of the P-70, to encourage some of my friends that have these fine old rifles, to use theirs too.
So, I'll be late, but I'll be there.
Best of luck to you and any others that might be brave enough and man enough to try this competition. :-)

In one of the previous posts I have proposed a special event. We all shoot at high noon (Hadleyville local time:-) and post our score as soon as possible. In beginning I thought shooters could shoot at their local ranges (I mean clubs), results confirmed by a local referee would be send to me. I asked any opinion about the idea and got nothing... Now I realize that many of us shoot High Noon BECAUSE they have no local clubs and ranges... So, ... I do not know... Looks for your opinions,
Grzegorz

Hadleyville High Noon
I think that the idea sounds like a lot of fun. Of course high noon in Hadleyville gives those of us in the US sort of an advantage, especially over our friends in India, etc. And our Hawaiian friends will have to get up very early! They are going to be shooting at almost High Midnight.
I suggest you send an email directly to everyone who enters the monthly Match and ask them if they want a real High Noon. Maybe on the same day as the original shootout!
Also, be sure to post on TT what your plans are.

Re: Hadleyville High Noon
Uh, the shooters in India will be the ones shooting near midnight. Actually around 10:30pm. The guys in Honolulu will still have to get up very early.

Wow! You give me a big job now!!! If there are any movie specialists - is this day indicated somewhere? If not, I will have to watch the movie again and as we know WHERE, as we know WHEN (hour) if there is any screenshot with a son over a horizont maybe we can find a day ;-)))) (Of course, forgetting that everything was screened in California:-)))

How about "high noon," local time for the shooter. That would be easier to deal with for all the different time zones.
Lack of access to a local range is a reason some of us shoot the High Noon. That is why I shoot the High Noon match.
